The Practice

Three principles, one signature.

For thirty-eight years, John Henry has designed homes the way the great period masters did — by hand, with patience, in dialogue with the family who will live in them.

01

Drawn by Hand

Every façade, every interior, every column and cornice is first drawn on paper. No AI. No computer modeling. Only construction drawings are digital — for accuracy on the build site. The soul of the home is born from the hand.

Why hand-drawn matters →
02

Period-Authentic

French Chateaux. Italian Renaissance Villas. Spanish Mediterranean. Beaux-Arts Classical. English Tudor. We design in living dialogue with the periods that built civilization — adapted for how you actually live today.

03

Soulful Craft

Master of Architecture from Texas A&M. In practice since 1987. Built across ten states and four continents. Every detail — the proportions, the materials, the procession through rooms — is engineered to outlast trends and become an heirloom.

Meet the Principal

John Henry, Architect.

M.Arch · Texas A&M In practice since 1987 10+ U.S. states 4 continents

John Henry has spent thirty-eight years designing residences for families who want a home that will outlast them. His specialty is the period vocabulary of French chateaux, Italian Renaissance villas, Spanish Mediterranean, English Tudor, and Beaux-Arts classical — all designed for the way you actually live today.

Trained at Texas A&M University in modernism, John found his calling early — at sixteen, walking the ruins of Miletus, Priene, Didyma, and Ephesus on the Turkish coast. He has lived and traveled across Europe and the Middle East. He works from his Orlando studio, on paper, with a fountain pen — the way fine architecture was made for a thousand years before digital tools.

He doesn't use AI. He doesn't use computer modeling for design. The hand and the eye remain the instruments. The result is a home with soul — one that grows more valuable, more loved, every year you live in it.

— John Henry

How It Works

From first conversation to final keys.

A measured, transparent design process. You'll know what's happening, what's next, and what it costs at every stage.

01

Discovery

A complimentary 45-minute conversation. We discuss your vision, site, family, and inspiration — and outline a feasible path forward.

02

Schematic Design

Hand-drawn floor plans and front elevation, delivered in approximately three weeks. One round of revisions included.

03

Design Development

Refinement of plans, site plan, all elevations, and the beginning of the interior architecture — fireplaces, paneling, cabinetry, ceilings.

04

Permit Set

Full construction drawings, specifications, and coordination with civil and structural engineering — the document set your builder builds from.

05

Construction Support

We remain available throughout the build to answer the builder's questions, review shop drawings, and protect the integrity of the design.

French Chateau · Naples, Florida

We interviewed five architects. John was the only one who actually drew while we talked — sketching ideas on tracing paper across the conference table. We knew within an hour. The house he designed has been featured in every magazine our friends read.

Thirty years from now this house will be more beautiful than it is today. That is what John Henry gives you — not a house, an heirloom. His drawings are works of art before a single stone is laid.
